Great
Lakes Area Thanks everyone for coming to the 2009 Battle at the Cross Roads DBA events. I would like to thank the Convention Director Jeff Russ for being an excellent host. He is always around to make sure things are going smoothly and directing convention visitors in to see the activities. The facilities are good, the food is fresh, inexpensive and very close at hand.
I would also like to thank everyone that showed up for the LBDBA variant that I ran at 9 am on Saturday. We had twelve participants and that was a very surprising and positive turn out, when many of them had more than an hour's drive to get there. I tried 1.5 hour slots for the rounds of this event and it was clear from the large number of unfinished games that this length of time is not going to be long enough. I let every round run long, but had at least 2 unfinished games in every round.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the experimnt, despite my having to call so many games, I will try it again, but use two hour rounds for the next test. I am going to start a thread on your thoughts, questions, and critique of the variant and I am very interested in getting your feedback. Due to the large number of unfinished games, I abandoned ties and went with winning and losing draws (wins and losses assigned on NASAMW scoring based on number of elements killed in the game).
Congratulations to Dave Welch on his victory!
Finally, the scores:
* Played 2nd & 3rd rounds
** Played 1st round!
