DBA Open
ATC Open repeats success in 2007 with 32 players
by Mike Demana
Once again, the main gaming hall at Advance the Colors was packed with
DBA players on Saturday morning. GMs John Lawitzke and John Loy ran their
DBA School in the hour before the tourney, as a refresher for those who've
been away from the game, or to teach new players the basics. And as always,
that netted us a few more participants, who the more experienced players
were happy to help along. We did have a repeat winner this year, as Keith
Finn took the Early Bracket again, this time with his Numidian army. Keith
brought a tub o' armies and made his choice on the fly that morning. He
won by slapping around and traumatizing Steve Smith and his dismounting
Trojans. Steve could be heard sniveling the rest of the convention about
Keith's pink dice. In the Later Bracket, Rich Baier came from being down
3 elements lost to none in the final round to steal away what would have
been Mike Cole's first tournament victory. Rich drove in from Pittsburgh
for the weekend of DBA and participated in all the events, playing strongly
in all.
